About us

Our vision is to assist the Open Source community and industry so as to develop new software and hardware components with meaning and value for the world. We promote software and hardware through reviewing, making it accessible to a vast array of readers among the world. OSArena.org is a resource for interacting with Linux and Android users who want to take their skills to the next level. Although Linux assumes a certain familiarity with Unix and terminal commands in general, anyone who can run a LiveCD can use the OSARENA community as a helping stone in learning about Open Source technology to the fullest. With our articles we can provide to our readers a state of the art –”behind the machine”– knowledge and therefore enable them to maximize their system’s overall efficiency. We go beyond giving a simple repetition of the manuals, tackling the advanced concepts behind building successful Home or Enterprise solutions required for one single purpose: administrate your PC to its fullest potential and know the machine out-of-the-box before you buy it.

Getting back on track we are a lot aware of the article publishing process on the web. Unregistered agreements that ought to be applied, NDA contracts, make reference to hypes and rumors for products, promoting and marketing for some companies and their stuff, textual approach to the mainstream of PC users who are going to be the next generation of Linux users or even potential Linux customers. Our team is strongly maintained by professionals who are capable of testing and being aware of methods and procedures that we shall follow during our hardware testing process.

Furthermore, we are looking forward to a closer cooperation in promoting upcoming releases of new distributions, how-to articles and news information in order to unite Linux community. We imagine this as a series of exclusive articles, maybe even access to pre-released products or any other form. We expect you to be part of this community and discuss on how this cooperation could materialize and under which circumstances. The thing that matters for us the most, it’s the hack value of an editor, a person that actually lives for sharing and contributing for the community of data and bytes.

OSArena.org roots back in the Greek OSarena.net. We initially started out as Geek GNU/Linux website, but way before our first newborn year of online activity, we have already figured that the site needed to be more diverse. Next to our up-to date articles, reviews and the news-front have grown to a very popular part of the site.

Starting from zero point there is no any funding mechanism to support our effort. Consider ourselves as volunteers that aren’t getting paid, not because they’re worthless, but because they’re priceless. Mind that in our community it’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice. Consequently, we serve an ethical foundation for Open Source technology that should be used to expand our horizons and try to keep the world free.

All in all, OSArena team is a handful of people who do not necessarily have the time but the heart and passion to share knowledge back to world. We start as volunteers aiming to provide quality articles and trustworthy news to the users. If you embrace our spirit feel free to join us.

Kind Regards
OSArena.org Board
